The house, for a family or two

Three bedrooms, two baths, six beds, sleeping eight, with a full kitchen and a fenced back yard. This is what booking the house actually gets a family, and what it does not, said plainly.

The short version

Three bedrooms, two baths, six beds, sleeps eight. One king, one queen, and two bunks, one pairing a twin over a twin and one a twin over a queen.
Booking the house books the whole house. Nobody else is inside it while you are here.
A full kitchen with a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer inside, not shared with anyone.
A covered deck, picnic tables, a propane barbecue and a fully fenced back yard. Somewhere a toddler or a dog can be outside without you watching the road.
The grass area, the treehouse and the picnic tables on the wider property are shared with the motel and RV guests, since the house sits on the same lot.

Who sleeps where

Six beds across three bedrooms: one king, one queen, one bunk pairing a twin over a twin, and one bunk pairing a twin over a queen. Eight guests total. We have not yet written down which bed sits in which of the three bedrooms. If that detail decides the trip for you, a family splitting kids and adults across rooms, say, email info@stayatcedarlodge.com and we will go and look before you book.

Kitchen, laundry, and what is outside

A full kitchen with a dishwasher means a family cooking three meals a day is not fighting a kitchenette microwave for counter space. A washer and dryer inside the house means a week with kids does not turn into a suitcase of wet swimsuits by day three. Air conditioning and central heating cover both ends of a year that runs from summer heat to real winter cold.

Outside: a covered deck, picnic tables, a propane barbecue, and its own driveway with an EV charger. The house has its own private entrance, separate from the motel row.

We have no photographs of the inside yet. The kitchen, the living room, the three bedrooms and both baths are on the list and go up the week they are taken. We would rather show nothing than someone else’s kitchen.

The fenced yard, and what sits next to it

The back yard is fully fenced, which matters more with small kids or a dog than almost anything else on this page. The house sits beside the motel row and the RV sites on one property, so the wider grounds, the treehouse and the shared picnic tables are a walk away rather than a private amenity, and the whole property stays open and operating while you are here.

Check in, minimum stay and pets

Check in is after 4 PM with no cutoff time: we email a keypad code on the day you arrive, so a late arrival still works. Check out is 10 AM. Minimum stay is two nights, and three nights over Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day. Two pets, dogs or cats, are welcome at $20 per pet per night, capped at $60 for the whole stay, with no weight limit and no breed restrictions. What is close enough for a family day

We are about half a mile to a mile from Lake Almanor, open to trout fishing every month of the year, with a paved trail down the west shore for a family that does not fish. Lassen Volcanic starts from two entrances in Chester, and the easiest of the three hikes we cover, a flat 1.7 mile loop around Manzanita Lake, is a reasonable morning with young kids. Where you sleep

The house sits beside the motel row, at the junction of Highway 36 and Highway 89, three miles west of Chester.

Motel rooms From $125+ a night plus county tax.

The house From $225+ a night plus county tax.

RV sites From $60+ a night plus county tax.

No booking fee, no resort fee, no cleaning fee. Plumas County adds 9% occupancy tax and a 3% tourism district assessment. First bookable night is 30 September 2026.
